DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENTS
1. GENERAL
Movement Control Section has requirements for the provision of basic training courses in the areas of
Shipping and Transport Logistics (STL) and Supply Chain Management (SCM).
The course requirement on STL is expected to refresh and update the knowledge of staff on one of the core
areas of Movement Control operations which is continuously evolving with new, more efficient and smarter
practices and procedures.
The course on SCM is expected to provide participants with the understanding of its fundamental concepts
and key elements. This will help define the role of Movement Control Section in facilitating the flows of SCM
in the context of the United Nations especially against the increasing expectations of Member States for
greater cost efficiency in peacekeeping operations.
In addition, these proposed training courses will provide local staff of the Section with the opportunity to
develop their capacity in these dynamic and challenging fields of work consistent with recommendations of
the legislative bodies and UN oversight authorities.
2. REQUIRED COURSE CONTENTS
The potential contractor is requested to make proposals for each of the courses covering the following key
areas mentioned below:
2.1 SHIPPING AND TRANSPORT LOGISTICS
a. Fundamental of trade and freight transportation
b. Freight transportation management
c. International Trade – Commercial Aspects
d. Dealing with customs
e. Legal Aspects and liability of trade
f. Other Aspects of freight chain
2.2 SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
a. Background to Supply Chain Management
b. Supply Chain Planning and Inventory Optimization
c. Socio-Cultural Issues and their impact on Collaboration in the Supply Chain
d. Global Supply Chain Structure and Risks of Global Supply Chain Operations
e. Corporate Social Responsibility in the context of Supply Chain Management
f. Performance Improvements in Global Supply Chains
The preferred learning format is online access for participants. Each course is required to have capacity of
at least 20 participants to train concurrently.
The proposed syllabi for the courses, once agreed upon and finalized shall not be changed without prior
and expressed authorization of MINUSTAH.
3. Course Duration
The duration of each course is expected to run for at least 8 weeks but not to exceed 16 weeks.
