A - Objectives The Child Protection Unit has a mandate to provide technical support in order to improve the juvenile justice system in Haiti; in particular, to supervise the number of prison conditions of the children under detention and to collaborate with the government to reduce the pre-trial detention of children in conflict with law. Child protection follows also the case of unaccompanied children deported from Dominican Republic in coordination with the BPM/PNH, UNICEF and other partners of the civil society Considering that the number of children under pre-trial detention for more than six months has increased; that there are more than 225,000 children in domesticity that implies coordinated work with other partners to fight against this phenomenon; that deportation of children has become a big concern on the border of Dominican Republic, there is a need for a stronger response. Hence this consultancy that aims to get a specialist that would work for that better response. |
B – Description of Assignments Under the direct supervision of the Chief Child Protection Unit and within delegated authority, the Consultant will be responsible for the following duties

D – Languages Requirements: French and English are the working languages of the UN secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English and French is required.
