Organization Setting and Reporting Line

This position is located in the Operations Unit of the Joint Logistics Operations Center (JLOC) of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) in Port-au-Prince.  The Logistics Assistant at this level reports to the Logistics Officer as the First Reporting Officer (FRO) and the Chief Operations Unit as Second Reporting Officer (SRO). 

 

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Logistics Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:  (These duties are generic and may not be carried out by all Logistics Assistants.) 

 

Assists the senior staff with the implementation of logistics plans and other activities, including redeployment/drawdown/relocation of contingents and formed police units.

Assists the senior staff in providing effective and timely support to all clients (Military, Police, Self-Accounting Units and other Sections.)

Provides support for the effective execution of logistics plans in view of various operations (e.g. elections, troop rotation, office closures, special projects) when required;

Compiles activities weekly and monthly activities reports for further submission and review of the supervisor.

Assists with the weekly coordination meeting by preparing agenda points and compiling inputs from the participants: ISS Sections, Military, Police, Security, Environmental Unit and all other involved.

Assist in the coordination of Government of Haiti project execution, sponsored by Substantive components.

Stores and maintains important documents, electronic files and data in shared drive and designated folders.

 

Provides support to other Units and Cells in the execution of tasks, as requested by the supervisor.

 

The work requires extensive interaction with JLOC clients/stakeholders and it will be based in an integrated setting composed of civilian, military and police personnel in the Logistics Operations Unit.

Education:  High School diploma is required.

Work Experience:   A minimum of four (4) years of relevant and/or combined experience in administration, support services and logistics related area is required.

Languages:  English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written French and English are required.

Other: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is desirable.
