Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located within the Integrated Mission Training Center (IMTC) in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).

Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the chief of the IMTC, the Training Officer will be responsible for the following duties: 

  • Coordinates the assessment of the mission training needs to include collation of required inputs, reviewing and analyzing data with respect to the finalization of cost estimates and budget proposals.
  • Implements the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of training, learning and development programmes for staff. These programmes encompass a range of activities including, inter alia, peacekeeping training courses, technical and substantive training, leadership and management training and organizational development courses.
  • Coordinates the preparation and organization of training courses including inductions sessions by ensuring adequate physical space planning, technology needs and duplication of course materials and other logistical issues.
  • Collects, updates and consolidates all statistical data and assist in preparing standard & adhoc budget reports as well as in responding to various audit queries.
  • Perform training budget monitoring activities in Umoja such as raising shopping carts, service certifications and funds commitment for hiring of services.
  • Provides support to the managers with respect to the implementation and monitoring of the training budget through UMOJA.
  • Assists in the management of all aspects related to procurement and administration of contracts for internal/external training services through UMOJA;
  • Develops and upgrades instructional/training materials for training, learning and development programmes, promotes the services of the IMTC/Training Unit through various initiatives and marketing platforms and updates activities and accomplishments.
  • Coordinates the organization and conduct of development initiatives such as mentoring and capacity building for staff. Builds capacity of General Service training staff within the Civilian Training Cell.
  • Collaborates with military and UN police training officers to ensure that an integrated approach to training and development is maintained and training facilities and resources are jointly utilized to meet cross cutting needs.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the immediate supervisor or the chief of IMTC.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in training or learning and development, management, business or public administration, education, social science or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

 

Work Experience

A minimum of Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in workforce learning and development, administration, education, human resources management or related field.  Experience working in a multicultural and/or international work environment is desirable.

 

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English and French are required.
