Organization Setting and Reporting Line

This position is located in the Engineering Section of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). The incumbent will report directly to the Head of Water and Sanitation Unit.

Responsibilities:    

  • Assist in the management of water and sanitation unit in efficient manner by
    preparing draft requisition for spare parts, consumable, e.g. pump, water bladder, spare parts for Module I and module II water treatment plants,; pet bottle capsules, caps, wrapping sheet and labels.
  • Prepare record and monitoring of consumable items for water bottling plants e,g. caps, capsule, labels, plastic wrapping for bottled water.
  • Prepare draft requisition for maintenance services of UNOE well and ROWPU.
  • Prepare inventory in Galileo System, provide list of required items/ spare parts as well as tools and equipment in the asset control database after receipt.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly report and submit to Unit supervisor for review;
  • Prepare the attendance sheet for National and International staff. Liaise extensively with Budget, AMMU and establish contact utilizing local contractors for well.
  • Consolidate reports for list for regular maintenance works e.g. daily, weekly and monthly maintenance schedules of waste water treatment plant.
  • Monitor and track spare parts for replacement during plant break down.
  • Task and keep records of UNOE sewage truck and water truck daily trips and monitoring.
  • Prepare draft requisition for spare parts for waste water treatment plant e.g. membrane filter, lift station pump, vacuum pump. Record log sheet of all WWTP mission wide and filling.
  • Prepare all data related to administrative works. Prepare data for the list of works request, contract extensions and attendance sheet for IC workers, request for replacement of IC when needed, and submit attendance leave report.
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Chief Engineer.

Education: - High school diploma is required. In addition certificate training in operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants is advantage.

Work Experience: - A minimum of four (4) years experience in water and sanitation or similar is required.

Languages: - English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.  For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Good communication and working knowledge in French is an advantage.
