Déclaration attribuable au porte-parole du Secrétaire général sur Haïti

 

Le Secrétaire général est préoccupé par le récent report des élections en Haïti, qui étaient prévues pour le 24 janvier. Il exhorte vivement toutes les parties prenantes à travailler sans tarder à la conclusion du processus électoral de manière pacifique, en trouvant une solution consensuelle qui permettra au peuple d’Haïti d’exercer son droit de vote pour élire un nouveau Président ainsi que les représentants restants du nouveau Parlement.
 
Le Secrétaire général exhorte tous les acteurs politiques à rejeter toute forme de violence et d'intimidation et à s’abstenir de toute action qui pourrait perturber davantage le processus démocratique et la stabilité en Haïti.
 
Le Secrétaire général réaffirme l'engagement des Nations Unies à continuer de soutenir la consolidation de la démocratie et la stabilisation en Haïti.

Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on Haiti

 
The Secretary-General is concerned over the recent postponement of the elections in Haiti, which were scheduled for 24 January. He strongly urges all stakeholders to work towards the peaceful completion of the electoral process without delay, through the forging of a consensual solution that will allow the people of Haiti to exercise their right to vote for the election of a new President and the remaining representatives of the new Parliament.
 
The Secretary-General urges all political actors to reject all forms of violence and intimidation and refrain from any action that can further disrupt the democratic process and stability in the country.
 
The Secretary-General reaffirms the commitment of the United Nations to continue supporting the consolidation of democracy and stabilisation in Haiti.
