Déclaration attribuable au Porte-parole du Secrétaire-Général sur Haïti

Le Secrétaire-Général prend note de la publication du rapport sur la vérification du processus électoral en Haïti.
Le Secrétaire-Général souligne qu’Haïti peut difficilement se permettre une période prolongée de gouvernance transitoire.
Il note avec inquiétude le potentiel détrimentaire de cette situation vis-à-vis de l’engagement international en faveur d’Haïti. Il réitère la nécessité pour un gouvernement démocratiquement élu de relever les défis socio-économiques et humanitaires croissants auxquels fait face Haïti.
Le Secrétaire-Général rappelle la responsabilité de la Présidence provisoire, du Gouvernement et du Conseil électoral provisoire d’identifier une marche à suivre qui garantisse l’achèvement pacifique des élections de 2015. Il exhorte toutes les parties prenantes à s’assurer que le retour à l’ordre constitutionnel est une priorité urgente.
Le Secrétaire-Général réaffirme l’engagement des Nations Unies à soutenir les aspirations démocratiques du peuple haïtien et appelle tous les acteurs concernés à contribuer au maintien de la sécurité et de la stabilité dans le pays ainsi qu’à décourager de façon proactive la violence pendant cette période difficile.

Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General’s on Haiti
The Secretary-General takes note of the release of the report on the verification of the electoral process in Haiti.
The Secretary-General underlines that Haiti can ill afford a prolonged period of transitional governance.
He is concerned that this situation has the potential to adversely affect international support to Haiti. He reiterates the need for a democratically elected leadership to take on the growing socio-economic and humanitarian challenges the country faces.
The Secretary-General recalls the responsibility of the Provisional Presidency, the Government and the Provisional Electoral Council to identify a way forward that guarantees the peaceful completion of the 2015 elections. He exhorts all stakeholders to ensure a return to constitutional order as an urgent priority.
The Secretary-General reaffirms the unwavering commitment of the United Nations to support the democratic aspirations of the Haitian people. He calls on all parties to contribute to the maintenance of security and stability in the country and actively discourage violence during this challenging period.
