In his inaugural speech, Mr. Lamothe said that « the time for change has arrived. I know that there is much to be done with many sleepless nights ahead. I have taken on this position because I believe and have the will to serve my country and work for my country, with you, with my whole team, so that together we can accomplish our mission ».

In a statement released on the eve of the ceremony, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Haiti congratulated the Chamber of Deputies for its vote of confidence on Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe's general policy statement, following that of the Senate a week ago.
